Juniors Performance

Performance

This program is aimed at junior rowers who have either national team aspirations or are looking to move seamlessly into a Canadian university rowing program. GNRC works closely with the University of Victoria to create an environment which prepares junior rowers for the next level or rowing in Canada.

What is performance?

The Performance Program is an application/invite-only program. The program normally runs from November through August, and has a focus on travel regattas.

COVID-19 restrictions impact this program.

Regattas

At this point, COVID-19 restrictions mean that no regattas are occuring.

Spring season offers the most racing experience with participation in a number of well-known regattas. It is seen as the premier season for youth rowing in Canada. In addition to local regattas held on Vancouver Island and the mainland, GNRC will aim to send crews to the Canadian Secondary School Rowing Association (CSSRA) National Championships, as well as the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, both held in St. Catharines, ON. While the focus has been primarily on sculling in the past, GNRC will introduce more opportunities to sweep in an effort to remain current and competitive in all events while preparing athletes for university rowing.

In the past, we've attended:
March - Elk Lake Spring Regatta
April - Brentwood International Regatta
May - Shawnigan
May - BC Jr Champs
July - Challenge West

Additional Regattas

These regattas are subject to additional fees

May - Metro Vancouver Invitational
June - CSSRA, St. Catharines, ON
August  - Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, St. Catharines, ON
