The winter season program offers an opportunity to stay in contact with the sport between the GVYRS season and the spring racing season. Winter training is an excellent opportunity to strengthen athletes against injury and to prepare them for competition during spring and summer seasons. Colder temperatures and shorter days bring a focus to dry land training sessions during weekdays with on water sessions reserved for weekend practices.
In most seasons, Development and Novice program participants will race at Monster Erg, an annual indoor regatta hosted by UVic.
The winter season normally runs from November through February. Information on the 2021-2022 winter season will be posted later in the year.
For athletes that have completed at least one year of club season or athletes who want to step into a more serious training environment directly out of the GVYRS season.
