The Gorge Narrows Rowing Club Memorial Fund

In Honour of Jamie Leigh
In the fall of 2025, the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club established the Gorge Narrows Rowing Club Memorial Fund project in partnership with the BC Amateur Sport Fund to celebrate and honour the legacies of past GNRC members who made a lasting impact on our community. This initiative was born from a shared desire to remember those who shaped our club and to ensure their values continue to inspire future generations of rowers.
The GNRC Memorial Fund is dedicated to supporting youth and adult athletes through direct assistance with training costs, providing opportunities to attend regattas at the provincial, national, and international levels, and making our sport more accessible to individuals who face financial or systemic barriers.
The Fund’s inaugural gift is given in loving memory of our teammate, fellow rower, and friend, Jamie Leigh, who passed away unexpectedly in September 2025.
Jamie was someone you were grateful to have known and to have had in your life. He lived his passions wholeheartedly—whether pulling hard on the water, lending a hand in the boathouse, or welcoming and mentoring new rowers, including youth. He was generous with his time and kind in spirit, always ready to offer support, encouragement, and laughter. Jamie approached mentoring with patience and enthusiasm, helping others build both confidence and skill. He brought a playful energy to every practice and was always looking for ways to better his own rowing while enriching the club experience for everyone around him.
This fund stands as a lasting tribute to Jamie’s many years with GNRC.
Rooted in GNRC’s core values of inclusion, excellence, and community, the Memorial Fund embodies the spirit of joy, generosity, and camaraderie that Jamie brought to the sport every day.
We invite you to help us honour Jamie’s memory and support the next generation of rowers by making a contribution to the GNRC Memorial Fund.
With gratitude,
