The Gorge Narrows Rowing Club celebrated National Come Try Rowing Day on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Participants got to experience rowing on the Selkirk Waterway, the traditional lands of the Lekwungen people of the Songees and Esquimalt Nations.
This free event exposed around 160 people to flatwater rowing. The experience included equipment orientation, an on-land introduction to the rowing stroke using our Concept 2 rowing machines, and a journey on the Gorge Waterway in a four-person sculling boat. Each boat was steered by a member of the GNRC community, allowing for great interaction and ensuring a safe and positive first-time experience.
