Come Try Rowing Events

Our club periodically runs Come Try Rowing events that provide a fun, affordable, introduction to the sport of rowing.

For example, our 2026 Oars for Oceans event celebrated Ocean Week Victoria and offered the opportunity to learn, try, and feel the rhythm of rowing, and our Row-Mantic Day On the Water provided a fun, guided, rowing experience that was designed with couples in mind, but was open to everyone!

We also participate in some free National Come Try Rowing Days. These events are sponsored by Rowing Canada Aviron at clubs across the country to help promote rowing within communities.

We can also put together custom Come Try Rowing Experiences for companies, family reunions, etc. If you're interested, contact director@gorgerowing.ca to discuss your needs.

We love to introduce people to rowing!

2026—Oars for Oceans

On May 31, 2026, over 85 people attended our Oars for Oceans event.

In celebration of Ocean Week Victoria and World Oceans Day, this one-of-a-kind experience invited the community to connect with the water in a way that was joyful, meaningful, and accessible—no experience required.

We were joined by representatives from Rowing BC's Row Electric project, BC Hydro, and OceansEV.

Thank you to World Rowing for featuring our Oars for Oceans event!
