Regattas: formal racing
Our coaches organize club entries at various regattas held on Vancouver Island. Members interested in racing further afield typically also self-organize to attend additional regattas on the mainland, across Canada and the US, and even Europe.
Typical attendees: Those who want to compete, and are willing to commit to training beforehand, loading/unloading the boat trailer, rigging/derigging boats, and hanging out at the regatta most of the day to cheer on other GNRC crews, help deal with their shoes, oars, etc. Your Coach will help you understand which regattas are suitable for your skills and ability.
Vibe: Serious and focused during training & races. Social & supportive during all the surrounding activities, hanging out at the tent, trailer loading etc.
Logistics: You indicate you are interested in a specific regatta in iCrew. Coach chooses events and assigns crews and equipment that make sense given the set of people interested in attending.
Note: Your club membership allows you to race in Gorge Narrows Rowing Club entries, but does not cover your attendance cost, which varies by the regatta & events you race in. Regatta attendance costs range between $70 - $235, plus your travel expenses.
